As of 1 April 2023, the National Cyber and Information Security Agency (NÚKIB) has become the competent authority for decisions on the granting, extension, or revocation of authorisation for occupations and work activities to which the relevant vocational qualification relates, in the field of cybersecurity. This follows from the amendment to Act No. 179/2006 Coll., on Verification and Recognition of Further Education Results and on Amendment to Some Other Acts. The published information will be updated on an ongoing basis.

General Information on Authorisation

Act No. 179/2006 Coll., on Verification and Recognition of Further Education Results and on Amendment to Some Other Acts (hereinafter “the Recognition Act”) has been in force since 1 August 2007. This legislation introduces a uniform, transparent, and objective method of verifying and recognising the skills and knowledge of individuals, regardless of how they were acquired — whether through formal study or practical experience. This possibility had not previously existed under applicable law, despite being a key element of continuing education.

Legal Framework

  • Act No. 179/2006 Coll., on Verification and Recognition of Further Education Results and on Amendment to Some Other Acts (the Recognition Act), as amended by Act No. 53/2012 Coll. — in force since 1 August 2007. This Act defines key terms, sets out the rules for granting, extending, and revoking authorisation to verify further education results, and addresses other related matters;
  • Decree No. 208/2007 Coll., on details prescribed for the implementation of the Recognition Act, as amended, and Decree No. 110/2012 Coll., amending Decree No. 208/2007 Coll., on details prescribed for the implementation of the Recognition Act.
